Development Bank/Sandy Point Basketball League: Fig Tree stamp authority

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, March 12th, 2012  --  With a 103-54 points drubbing of Any Thin Cun Happn, on Sunday night (March 11) the Fig Tree Basketball Team has sent out an early signal that they intend to take home the 2012 Development Bank-sponsored Sandy Point Basketball League trophy. The team has two wins after the previous week’s narrow win over Old School Fruta Falcons.

     

    Playz Basketball Team, who were among the winning teams the previous week, also won a second game with a 84-58 win over The Alley ‘Showtime’ team, in the second and featured game on Saturday night at the Sandy Point Hard courts. Troy Wattley on the winning team was the MVP. Their previous win was over Running Suns Basketball team.

     

    In this game, high scorers for Playz were Troy Wattley (22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists), Kemo Duncan (15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals), and Sheffin Bloyce (13 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals). For the The Alley ‘Showtime’, Otis Daniel returned 19 points, 5 rebounds and two assists. Others were Clayton Powell (22 points, 5 assist and 5 steals), and A. Carty (10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals).

     

    The opening game on Saturday saw Fruta Falcons Jrs came out on top over Prime Construction Wha-Do-U Basketball team with an 83-74 points win. Scoring for the winning team were Stephan Daniel-Rawlins (28 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals), Dequan Richards (19 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists), and Dejaan Grant (14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals).

     

    For the Prime Construction Wha-Do-U team, which also suffered a loss on the opening week, their top scorers were G. Lewis (23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals), D. Rogers (14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 steals), and B. Gills (12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals). MVP for the game was Stephan Daniel-Rawlins of Fruta Falcons Jrs.

     

    In the earthshaking game on Sunday night scorers for Fig Tree Basketball team were Devon Farrell (38 points, 18 rebounds and 3 steals), Ray Liddie (27 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists), George Gaton (14 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists) and Nashorn Maynard (12 points, 19 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 blocks).

     

    For Any Thin Cun Happn team, top scorers were Kaiyton Blake (22 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals), Ockland Connor (18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steal), and Dalton Jeffers (7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals). MVP for this game was Devon Farrell of the Fig Tree team.

     

    Second and featured game on Sunday night between Running Suns and Alley Construction Half Way Tree Basketball team was washed out by rain. It was stopped during halftime and it will be continued later on in the league. Scores when the game was stopped were Running Suns 55 points and the Alley Construction Half Way Tree 27. In this particular game, the highlight of the league thus far was a NBA-style dunk from Graeme Browne of Running Suns.
