BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PRAISE and congratulations have been thrown in the direction of the rank and file of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) for the improvement in the Federation’s crime solution rates.

“I want to commend the police. I think there is a proactivenss that is taking place - not that it wasn’t there before - but I believe the people in the country are seeing there seems to be an improvement in the leadership. I want to commend the police at all levels, not just the leadership, the middle management and those down there doing the foot and mobile patrols,” Prime Minister the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas expressed during his last press conference.

The National Security Minister noted that the improved crime solution rates are also as a result of a notable increase in the public’s confidence in the police.

“But that’s not all. It’s not just improvement in the leadership; it is also a confidence of the people returning in the police. And as a result of their confidence returning in the police, they are providing more information to the police. And in the past, what was being said is that although we have information we don’t have evidence. There is now a reliance upon information from the eyewitness and also forensic evidence coupled with that. That’s what I believe is being responsible for the heightened improvement in the so-called crime solution rate…”

The St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force – which has been working alongside the RSCNPF – was also commended for the supporting role they played.

“…and of course, don’t forget the army, the military, the Defence Force, for providing support to the police and the people, the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis who I believe are part and parcel of this improvement.”
