CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – TWO men were recently charged with burglary and receiving and one of them is currently remanded to Her Majesty's Prison pending trial.

Charged with burglary is Patrice Monzac of Shaw’s Road, New Castle in Nevis while his alleged accomplice, Tayan ‘Macabee’ Wilkin of Cotton Ground and New Castle, Nevis was charged with burglary and receiving.

According to Police PRO Sergeant Stephen Hector, the two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary on February 23, 2012 and later charged for the respective offences.

Hector said that the burglary offence was committed between 11:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 16) and 7:00 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 17).

He did not state where the offence was committed and against whom. However, this publication learned that the alleged crime took place at a villa in Nisbet Plantation on Nevis.

The PRO stated that the burglary involved the stealing of Scottish currency (pounds) and some of the money was recovered following an intensive investigation which involved a third party.

He also stated that Monzac was released on bail but Wilkin was remanded to prison.

On May 27, 2007 at New Castle, police said Wilkin was charged with “possession of a controlled drug, to wit cannabis”, and on Monday, December 10, 2007, he was shot on the right side of his body while on the premises of Spotlight Nightclub in Bath Village, Nevis.

And on Sunday, February 28, 2010, the then 26-year-old, along with the then 19-year-old Leon Didder, was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

The two men allegedly shot Jermaine ‘Chalise’ Freeman (deceased) of Rawlins Village in both legs and Travis ‘Gangster Fat’ Hanley of Halfway Tree, St. Kitts in the back.

Both men were acquitted of the offences.
