ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, March 15th, 2012   –   Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Mark Vanterpool will meet with Taxi and Livery Professionals next week to inform them of Government’s readiness to make policy decisions that will address a number of their concerns.

The tent meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20 at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park will be the forum that the minister will use to report and update the industry partners with regards to concerns expressed to him at the meeting held in January of this year.

In an invited comment Honourable Vanterpool told the Department of Information and Public Relations that Government is ready to address some of the issues and concerns of the taxi drivers. “When I met with the operators and a number of issues were brought to my attention. After presenting some of the concerns to Cabinet we are now ready to make policy decisions,” Minister Vanterpool stated.

According to Minster Vanterpool this meeting should send a clear message to the industry that Government is committed to improving the standard of living for all and he is encouraging all taxi and liver operators to come out on Tuesday to hear what changes will be made.

The January taxi meeting revealed a number of concerns being experienced by the operators including the role of the Taxi and Livery Commission, enforcement issues, problems at the ports, taxi tariffs, uniforms and the issuing of additional taxi license plates.
