“Be calm, be still and let the good Lord take command,” says Douglas

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PRIME MINISTER the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, during his Tuesday (Mar. 20) morning radio programme on ZIZ, ‘Ask The PM’, said it seems as though the passion of the people are being inflamed at this time but they should be calm, still and “let the good Lord take command of all things”.

Dr. Douglas was at the time responding to a caller who said she had been hearing many things about the Prime Minister’s Labour Party and ministers of government, but noted that she knew God had put him in power to rule the nation.

“I been hearing a lot of issues, a lot of things happening. Ministers of government going around and saying a lot of things…the Prime Minister this, the Prime Minister that. You have a Cabinet and whatever said in the Cabinet, nobody suppose to bring out to anybody on the street. These ministers need to stay in their office and do their work and stop giving people things to talk about,” the caller said.

In response, Dr. Douglas said that the person was obviously a supporter of the government and “very disturb by what she described as hypocrisy”, and confidential information from the Cabinet were being put into places where it should not be put.

“I believe this caller speaks for the hundreds and thousands of persons who have become very concerned. But I will say to these persons, it is a part of a plan to create disunity, division and defeat. I want the people to understand, especially those who have voted to have this government in office, that this is your government! Nobody can defeat or destroy your government but yourselves,” he said.

He also said that “what is going on” is part and parcel of a plan to destroy the Labour government.

Another individual called in and told the PM that there are “great leakers at your Cabinet, please deal with those leakers of your business in Cabinet”.

“I heard one of your ministers is trying to bring the propagandist to a certain programme to fill some post of Director of Homeland Security. So now you understand why this red herring Mumbai, Dubai office is being pushed. The word in Basseterre is that he is saying he don’t know about it. They come here looking sympathy and trying to fool the public. If the minister had a problem with it he should of voiced his opinion, instead a document was read on WINN FM.

“Mr. PM, I urge you to continue to serve the people of this country…have no fear,” the caller said.

That last caller may have been referring to the recent announcement of the departure of a three-member delegation to Dubai to establish an embassy there; a delegation that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. Sam Condor claimed not to have been consulted on its departure.

According to reports, WINN FM 98.9 broke the news on Thursday (Mar. 15). And during that radio station’s call-in programme ‘Voices’, the host, Ian ‘Patches Liburd’, spoke with Minister Condor who said he knew nothing of the delegation’s arrangements.

Dr. Douglas, after the caller had spoken for more than five minutes, said it seems as though the passion of the people is being inflamed at this time but they must remain calm.
