BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –THE crown of Kajola Kristada’s Employee of the Month was officially transferred today (Mar. 23) from the head of Jessica Daniel to that of Carissa Howe of the organisation’s A K Line.
It was only yesterday that the 26-year-old mother of two was informed by the Employee of the Month Committee that she was the February 2012 Employee of the Month.
Howe was offered congratulatory comments by the committee and expressed to this publication that she is not only pleased with her accomplishment but still overwhelmed by the news.
The process of selecting an Employee of the Month dictates that one individual is nominated from each department and these names are presented to the committee – which comprises employees, supervisors and managers.
The committee then compares the performance of all the nominees and the person with the best overall performance is selected as the Employee of the Month.
And Howe passed that test!
“To be honest, I pushed myself, tried to get to work early everyday, tried not to miss any time from work. I don’t give any attitude or anything like that. I am a good worker,” the Shadwell resident expressed.
Her children are seven and three years old and Howe explained to SKNVibes that she is elated to provide the positive example for her offspring.
“I see this as a good example for my children to always do the best in whatever they do. My eldest, when she saw me fixing my hair, she asked me why I was fixing it so nice and I told her I was going to take a picture. She said okay, and she even told me she wanted her hair to be done like mine.
“When I get home I will log on to SKNVibes and show her what mommy did. She will say, ‘Oh, okay, that is nice’ and she would strive to do as well as, and even better than I did.”
Kajola’s Operation Manager Adelaide Francis congratulated Howe on her achievement and highlighted some of the qualities she possesses that contributed to her being awarded.
“We have a committee that looks at everything when we are going to nominate an employee for the employee of the month. She has to have good efficiency, good attendance, no tardiness. She should have a good attitude, her job knowledge should be very good and she should have good initiative in order to qualify for selection. Carissa possesses all of these qualities.
“As the Operation Manager, I wish to extend congratulations to Mrs. Howe. She is a very, very pleasant person to deal with. If you come in contact with her, you will see that she has a very, very good attitude and she is a very pleasant lady. Congratulations Carissa.”
