Minister of Housing Expects High Approval on Wilmor Model Homes

~~Adz:Left~~Basseterre, St. Kitts, (SKNIS):  Local investment company, Wilmor Enterprises, has completed its first model home in the New Road area.
 
One of the partners in this company, Mr. Rudolph Morton conducted a tour of the affordable model home for a team of officials from the Ministry of Lands and Housing lead by Hon. Cedric Liburd.
 
Mr. Morton explained that the home is constructed from solid, durable materials that can withstand winds of up to 150 miles per hour. The outside of the house is constructed with cement board covered with sturdy Trewelon and has a stucco finish. An added feature is that the house does not need painting for at least twenty years after construction.
 
Interior features include fully tiled floors, high quality kitchen cupboards, medicine cabinets and faucets, water saving toilets, a bathtub, anti-insect  door seals and modern windows.
 
The houses are built to meet Florida and California standards, two states which are known for hurricanes and earthquakes.
 
Minister Liburd said he was pleased to have local investors looking for ways to fill gaps in the housing industry while helping to boost the local economy.
 
Emphasizing his approval of the quality of the model home, he said he would await the public’s response to the house and would ensure that when the public indicates its favour, his Ministry would do as much as possible to accelerate the larger construction project.
 
Minister Liburd said that homes are in great demand and that government means to fulfill the needs of prospective home owners. He added that approximately 3000 applications are in for home construction and that Wilmor Enterprise seems to be a viable project that has and can continue to deliver a quality product.
 
Presently the Ministry has three active housing solutions underway including the NEMA Starter Home Expansion Project, the SSMC Housing Project, and the National Housing Corporation Housing Project.
