CHARLESTOWN; Nevis - SOME 20 members of the Nevis Division of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have cordoned the village of Low Street following a shooting incident that took place late yesterday afternoon.

Armed with handguns, metal detectors and bulletproof vests, Police blocked the entrances and exits of Low Street Village and are conducting searches of the homes of residents and their surroundings.

Police Prosecutor Inspector Andre Mitchell, who was among the 20-plus officers, disclosed that an unidentified woman is in custody after she allegedly obstructed the Police in the course of their duty.

Unconfirmed reports also reached this media house that a quantity of illegal substances was discovered during the operation.

Many villagers have voiced their concerns over the seemingly spontaneous search, but SKNVibes learnt that the cordon and search operation follows a shooting incident, which occurred sometime yesterday afternoon in Low Street Village.

An update will be provided as the story unfolds.
