Inland Revenue Department and Caribbean Credit Card Corporation Host Successful Joint Training Seminar

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts,  March 25th, 2012 (Inland Revenue Department) – The Inland Revenue Department and Caribbean Credit Card Corporation recently concluded a joint training exercise geared towards the development and enhancement of the customer service skills of their respective staff members.

     

    The purpose of the seminar was to improve the quality of customer service that staff members at both organizations were offering to their respective customers. Participants were exposed to a wide array of best practices in customer service, and were reminded of the important need to ensure that every customer they come into contact with is dealt with professionally, courteously and promptly.

     

    Staff members who attended the workshop came away with a better understanding of the new and effective methods on how to interact with customers, having the right attitude at the office and ultimately throughout their daily lives. Topics during the workshop included lessons on customers’ expectations, phone etiquette, service begins and ends with a smile, building a business relationship and the value of a customer’s time and needs.

     

    The training was facilitated by the highly experienced business executive, Cuthbert Manchester at the Inland Revenue Department conference room at the Tax Reform Office. The training was administered to 10 persons from the Inland Revenue Department, including 2 persons from senior management, as well as a number of participants from Caribbean Credit Card Corporation.

     

    The management of the Inland Revenue Department believes that it is critically important that all staff members be well trained in dealing with taxpayers and members of the public.

     

    Towards this end, the department continues to upgrade the competency of staff through ongoing training exercises of this nature. In its quest to improve the quality of service and advice that is provided to the public, management anticipates that programs of this form will lower compliance cost and ultimately lead to an increase in tax receipts.

     

    This private-public sector partnership exercise is being hailed as an innovative method in collaboration that can produce solid dividends to the mutual benefit of all parties.

     

    The Inland Revenue Department is charged with administering the tax laws of the Federation in an efficient and equitable manner, to promote voluntary compliance to maximize Revenue for the development of the Federation at the least cost to the public and in a manner that warrants the highest degree of Public confidence in our integrity, efficiency and fairness.
