    Police Round Up

    ~~Adz:Left~~ARRESTS

     

    FIVE individuals arrested over the past couple of days will shortly have their day in court and afforded an opportunity to answer to their charge(s).

     

    Elston Phillip of The Alley in Sandy Point was on Saturday, June 14, 2008 arrested and charged for house breaking and larceny. According to a Police report, the offence was allegedly committed on June 10, 2008.

     

    For the offence of “possession of cannabis”, Brick Kiln, Nevis resident Errol Herbert was arrested and charged. The offence was allegedly committed on June 13, 2008.

     

    “Uttering a forged document” was the offence for which Nakila Maynard of Ponds Extension was arrested and charged. She was also arrested on Saturday, June 14, 2008.
     
    For allegedly making use of indecent language, Tanisha Uppal of Bird Rock was arrested and charged.

     

    Also on June 14, 2008, Bird Rock resident Kamal Boyal was arrested and charged with the for driving without insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license.

     

    POLICE FIND DRUGS

     

    In other news, Police officers were successful in locating and uprooting 10 marijuana plants during a routine stop and search operation. The plants, according to a Police press release, were found in the Ottley’s Village area on Saturday, June 14, 2008 and they range from four to 10 feet in height.

     

    The plants are in Police custody and no one has been held accountable for the find.

     

    TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

     

    Seven persons were injured on Friday, June 13, 2008 when the vehicle in which they were travelling was involved in an accident.

     

    According to a Police press release, motor van P3008, which was being driven by Warren Wilson of George Street, Tabernacle, was travelling along the island’s main road in the vicinity of Bourryeaux when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

     

    The incident occurred at about 8:00 in the evening and left seven persons with injuries. They were transported to the hospital, treated and six of them were discharged.

     

    “The vehicle, which is owned by the Tabernacle New Testament Church of God, was extensively damaged but the driver managed to escape unharmed. There were a total of 11 persons on the bus at the time of the accident,” a police press release informs.

     

     Investigations are ongoing.
