Harper’s Office Depot Donates Technological Equipment to Immaculate Conception Catholic School

Press Release (ICCS)

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, March 29th, 2012  --  Immaculate Conception Catholic School continues to be the beneficiary of immense support by businesses and other members of our local community. Most recently this support came in the form of a gift of technology.  Harper’s Office Depot and Dotcom gifted the school a projector, portable screen and a digital camera.

In this world of constant technological advances it is key that schools do their utmost to keep up with the interests of their learners. The technology that inspires our young people though, as we all know, is quite costly.  ICCS continues to be in admiration of the kindness bestowed on us by local businesses like Harper’s for their generosity in giving such a gift to our school.

These items were presented to the ICCS Student Council at Harper’s by Giselle Matthews, General Manager of Harper’s and Derek Liburd, IT Manager of Dotcom.  The members of the Student Council Executive Committee were eager to receive these gifts and made a pledge to ensure that they are treated with respect and proper care so that all the students of ICCS presently and in the future will be able to benefit from them.

These new additions to our school have been in high demand since their arrival.  The teachers have a sign-out sheet so they can sign up in advance to use the projector and screen and the digital camera.  In the classroom the projector allows the students to engage in multi-media presentations in the form of PowerPoint Presentations, and videos that relate to topics being covered in the curriculum which help to being the curriculum to life.

The digital camera will allow us as a school to continue to archive all of the events that happen at the school. These events are all uploaded to our school website to keep parents and other members of the community involved in all that we do at the school.

On behalf of the administration, staff, students and the whole school community we extend a heartfelt thanks to Harper’s Office Depot for their generous donation and their continued support of our school on our continued journey of providing the students of the Federation with a high quality educational experience!  It is with these partnerships that we will continue to create productive citizens of our society.
