Man arrested for indecently assaulting male juvenile

    Juvenile among four on separate charges

     

    Basseterre, St. Kitts – A man is currently in custody and charges are soon to be laid against him for indecently assaulting a male juvenile in a canefield.

     

    According to Police PRO Sergeant Stephen Hector, officers of the Tabernacle Police Station are conducting enquiries into an incident of indecent assault.

     

    “Preliminary investigations revealed that a young male was forced into a canefield by an adult male and acts of where he was assaulted indecently. An extensive search was conducted for the adult male and he was subsequently found at approximately 10:00 a.m. on the 26th March 2012,” Hector said.

     

    He noted that Inspector Charles Smithen, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, wishes to commend the general public for the information gained which afforded the police the opportunity to locate the offender.

     

    Meanwhile, a juvenile is among four individuals charged with offences ranging from money laundering to possession of cannabis.

     

    The Police PRO informed that the juvenile was arrested and charged in connection with a break-in at the George Moody Stuart School, where one BlackBerry cellular phone was reportedly stolen.

     

    The break-in reportedly occurred on Monday, March 26, 2012.

     

    Sharlene Bergan of West Farm, also on Monday, was arrested and charged on a warrant in the first instance for money laundering. The offences, according to Hector, were committed between March 22 and 23, 2012.
     
    He also said that Anthony Herbert of Keys Village was formally arrested and charged for the offence of larceny, which was committed at Kings Pavilion situated at Sprott Street.

     

    And Javid Wilkinson of Trafalgar Village was arrested for the offences of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply to another.

     

    These offences were allegedly committed on March 24, 2012 whilst the accused was at a popular nightspot in Basseterre.

     

    The PRO noted that the Commissioner of Police wishes to congratulate the general public “for their support and cooperation throughout the past weekend and uses this opportunity to remind all civic-minded persons of the need to adopt the philosophy of community policing and neighbourhood watch”.
