In 1987 the Ghetto Roots became the first ever OECS Club Champions when they won the inaugural tournament in Dominica defeating well known OECS Club teams like the Domnica Cardinals,  Antiguan Skillville and the Grenada Sparklers.

According to Manager of the Ghetto Roots Club Wallis Wilkin the idea of the 25th anniversary commemoration came from club treasurer Clive ‘Naba” Collins who has been a member of the club since those glory days .
