An earthquake shook eight eastern Caribbean islands but caused no injuries or damage, officials said today.
The 5.5 magnitude quake was felt in Antigua, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent, St. Kitts, and Montserrat on Monday afternoon.
Its epicentre was about 14 mile off Dominicas north coast and was an aftershock of a magnitude 6.3 tremor that caused extensive damage on that island in November, said Cecil Shillingford, Dominicas disaster preparedness coordinator.
The Caribbean has been shaken by a series of unrelated earthquakes recently.
