SANDY POINT, St. Kitts and Nevis, March 30th, 2012 -- After a successful Rams Elderly Appreciation Outing last Sunday at Brimstone Hill, all eyes are set on this weekend’s official opening of Black San’ Bang-a-Lang, and organizers promise that the hype and excitement surrounding the Sandy Point festival will only intensify.
This weekend, parent organization SPIRIT is set to roll out three massive events to officially open the festival and to maintain the palpable excitement. Saturday (March 31) is the official opening of the festival, at 7:00 PM at Sandy Bank, and the air is already filled with high expectations for the second installment of BLACK SAN’.
In the forefront, Black San' Bang-a-Lang will be featuring its novel event dubbed 'Tractorcade', combining the pulsating street jam sessions that nationals enjoy with a focus on 'Eat local, Buy local', but like many of SPIRIT's previous events, all bars have once again been removed to deliver events with unexpected but equally exciting cultural twists. Already, farmers have begun nurturing their finest harvests to boast when 'Tractorcade' picks up speed on the road this Saturday!
The night will be an extraordinary cultural explosion with a lineup of young and upcoming artistes and premiere acts such as Creative Sole Dancers will awaken Sandy Bank as the night offers a colorful and festive vibe. A special tribute involving prominent Sandy Pointers such as King Socrates and Jason Rogers will recap the most spectacular moments of last years festival. In attendance, will be this year’s contestants for the LIME Ms. BLACK SAN’ Swimsuit pageant as they give the audience a sweet sample of what’s to come on April 8th.
Crowds will also get a taste of the Hypnotica Coral Reef and Estates of Sandy Point parade day troupes which are set to take the streets of Sandy Point by storm in the upcoming weeks. The much-anticipated Bill Ah Vybz J'ouvert troupe will also hit the stage in a show of what can be expected at the upcoming street jams!
Come and register for one or more of the troupes and secure your package for one of the craziest street reveling sessions any local community festival has seen! Mixklusiv International and the revived and respected Lightz Out Band will pump up the volume in musical entertainment and will lead to the opening's climax of a spectacular sky lantern presentation -- a preview of the unique events to come!
Sunday (April 1st, 2012) begins with a day of church at the Unique Touch Christian Centre followed by a display of soccer skill at the Old Playing Field from 1:00pm as SPAFA presents its Mixed soccer challenge which promises to feature a number of the islands top footballers. The Silver Lining Gospel Concert, slated for the Old Project Road at Cleverly Hill is set to be a sure seat-filler!
The event will set us all in the spirit of Easter and is appropriately named to highlight the spiritual side of the festivities. Come out and start off the Easter the right way, the Black San’ way, and enjoy singing, dancing and instrumentals from well-known artistes from around the Federation. Witness as artistes hit the stage and bless the audience with inspirational and uplifting renditions. Like all other Black San’ events, there is a surprising twist, but you’d have to be there to experience it! The event begins at 7:00 PM and is absolutely FREE!!!!
