Khalea Robinson, 15, is the new CARICOM Youth Ambassador for St. Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre, St. Kitts (February 15, 2005):
St. Kitts and Nevis has a new CARICOM Youth Ambassador (CYA).

Director of Youth Geoffrey Hanley revealed that Khalea Robinson was chosen by an independent panel of selectors as the local female representative to the regional organisation. The announcement was made at the Washington Archibald High School (WAHS) during general assembly earlier today.

Robinsons profile stood out as the best among six applicants from St. Kitts and one from Nevis. She will serve for a minimum of two years alongside Pierre Liburd who was appointed in 2002.

Khalea, 15, is accustomed to serving her fellow youths. She held the post of President of the WAHS Young Leaders club from 2001 to 2003 and is currently a member of the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA).

She is described as having strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of world affairs.

Her profile indicates that she was a member of delegations that traveled to South Africa, Cuba and Haiti where she interacted with Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro and Jean Bertrand-Aristide respectively, in the past.

Khalea explained that the post of CYA will help her to develop a greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean Community. The 15-year-old aspires to work in the field of civil engineering and provide a voice to effect progressive social change in a globalize world.
