BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TDC Downtown Plaza’s first floor tenants celebrated their 1st anniversary of doing business from the location yesterday (June 19th) with an afternoon fashion show in the heart of downtown Basseterre.

The store owners used fashion and drama to  showcase their wares, giving  locals and visitors  alike a taste of what the individual stores had to offer.

Carlton Springate, a local radio personality started the event with give-aways that included discounts on items and gift vouchers from the participating stores. A modest crowd gathered to witness the activities, getting involved by shouting out answers to questions posed about the businesses located in the building.

Dominic Matthew of TDC’s Client Relations & Marketing Department gave brief welcome remarks expressing TDC’s pleasure at being able to renovate the location while keeping the traditional, historical architectural theme.  ~~Adz:Right~~

“TDC has given entrepreneurs and business persons the opportunity to have the chance to do business in a prime location complemented by the positioning of City Drug Store (2005) Ltd and TDC’s Home & Office Depot,” he told the audience.

Although the event was planned to popularize the plaza and five businesses were associated in its organization only three actively participated in yesterdays’ events, namely Abundance Gift Shop, Children’s Closet and St. Elmos’/Pepe Jeans.

Abundance Gift Shop used drama in the form of two skits to remind the public of situations where a gift basket could be the be the perfect gift to brighten a person’s day or be that special ‘I’m sorry’ peace offering to put a relationship back on track.

Children’s Closet and St. Elmos’/Pepe Jeans both had three segments of modelling that displayed the trendy fashions that were available in their respective establishments.  The kiddie models were escorted on stage by popular cartoon personalities including Elmo and Diego as they sashayed around the stage decked in casual summer dresses, polo shirts, caps and capris.

St. Elmos’/Pepe Jeans saw several voluptuous models sporting hoodies, jeans, graphic T’s and hand bags.
A total of 15 gift certificates were distributed; seven from St. Elmos’/Pepe Jeans, three from Abundance Gift Shop and five from Children’s Closet.

Pepe Jeans had the assistance of Step by Step Modelling Agency owned by Sherma Williams whose models handed out 10% Pepe Jeans Discount Cards to the appreciative onlookers.
