Antigua And Barbuda Represented At WTO Committee On Technical Barriers To Trade Meeting

    ST.JOHN'S Antigua, April 10th,  2012  --  Antigua and Barbuda was among members of the regional and international community represented at the March meeting of the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade.

     

    Bureau of Standards Director, Dianne Lalla-Rodrigues represented the country at the meeting which took place in Geneva, Switzerland

     

    Health-related concerns dominated the talks, with standards related to tobacco, alcohol and caffeine taking centre stage. A release issued by the WTO says that while members support the objective of protecting health, on occasion they challenge how the measure is designed and/or implemented. The concern is that trade may be unnecessarily affected.

     

    A triennial review of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade begins in June this year.wned institution which houses the country’s displaced senior citizens.
