Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community and Social Development Linda Adams (left) presents Iris Elliot with a gift.

Basseterre, St. Kitts (February 17, 2005):
Representatives of the  Ministry of Community and Social Development joined with two senior citizens earlier this week to celebrate significant birthdays.

Iris Elliott of St. Pauls attained 99 years on Wednesday while Rosanna Saddler of Pogsons celebrated 90 years on the same day.

Other elderly persons celebrating this week are Esmie Connor, Dorothy Phillip, Catherine Thomas and John Foreman.

Social Development Supervisor Mrs. Anne Wigley said that her ministry will continue to seek to keep its mandate to make elderly citizens as comfortable as possible during their golden years. She said that senior citizens often express the pleasure they get from the recognition on their birthdays as well as the ongoing homecare programme.
