SKNVibes Knockshore Night - Bang-a-Lang's biggest event thus far!

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IT was definitely lights, camera, and action as all roads led to the Sandy Bank (Hard Court) in Sandy Point last evening (Apr. 14) where the Second Annual SKNVibes Knockshore Night took place.

The Black San Bang-a-Lang event saw a Music Festival-like atmosphere with a twist. Four stages came alive with electrifying performances but not before a total of five Deejays enticed the crowd.

Band fans were in for a treat as, upon entry, they were offered the chance to represent their band with respective color-glow wrist bands and glow necklaces.

The Sugar Heads represented with blue glow bands, GM Addicts identified themselves in green, the Kollision Family was in the spotlight with orange and the Lightz Out Massive checked-in with red.

The action-packed night kicked-off with performances by the Federation's top DJs including Heineken Evolution HD, Mixklusiv International, Unstoppable Chalice, Chronical Sounds and Mad Squad Sounds.

They kept patrons entertained with selections ranging from ‘Conscious’ to Hip-Hop, from Soca to the 'Bad Man' tunes and a little something for the ladies.

The downpour of rain did not stop the couples from grinding, the pretty ladies from 'walking out' and the men from bouncing.

It was then time for bodies to bounce and waistlines to roll.

Each band performed from different tents which were erected on the grounds of the venue.

The first band to strike up was the Kollision which grooved the crowd with a few slow selections before hyping them up with some of their more up-tempo tunes.

The Lightz Out Band kept their performance groovy all the way.

The song of the night seemed to be ‘Wutless’; a soca tune by a neighbouring island's band named Kes and the Band. Each band made reference to that song at least once during their performance and it was also played by some of the DJs.

The crowd appeared to love it as they moved their waistline to the chant "right now I just wultess".

Next was the Grand Masters Band which saw the most reaction from the crowd. The downpour of rain during their performance did not stop the GM Addicts as they bounced and clapped while the Band's singer chanted "all in de rain".

Finally, everyone flocked the Northern end of the Hard Court jam to the Nu Vybes Band as they brought the curtains down on the night's proceedings.

The Band called all Sugar Heads and they obeyed, lining the front of the band's tent with their colour-glow wrist bands and necklaces swinging in the air.

The band kept it groovy at first but quickly picked up the pace, and while men ‘released de throttle' the women swung their waistline as they 'bounce it like a bounce cheque'.

The night's proceedings, however, came to an untimely end a little before 5:00 a.m. due to a scuffle that broke out in the crowd.

However, members of the Security Force quickly stepped in and brought an end to the brawl and no injuries were sustained.

Speaking with SPIRIT’s Public Relations Officer Che-Rainer Warner, she explained that despite the unexpected end to the night's event, it was still successful.

"Compared to last year, we had a blowout crowd…the venue was completely packed. As the night progressed and the bands began to play we saw the crowd build immensely. We saw everybody representing which bands they were supporting; the fans were excited. They were hyped!

"We were however pulled to a halt because of a little scrabble which happens sometimes. The session was stopped in order to avoid any incidents but all in all the SKNVibes Knockshore Night started off with a bang and ended with a bang as well."

Even with the abrupt end to the event's proceedings, patrons still left Sandy Bank feeling like they got their money's worth, as many noted that they "had a blast".
