Car rental companies benefit from Music Festival

Basseterre, St. Kitts – Car rental companies are reaping the economic benefits of the12th hosting of the Annual St. Kitts Music Festival as most are reporting 100% of their stock being booked for the period.

Vincent Gumbs, Manager of TDC Thrifty Car Rental informed SKNVibes.com that business was better than he could have hoped for, and that all available vehicles had already been booked out.

“The vehicle fleet at Thrifty is normally 78 vehicles, but out of necessity I had to transfer vehicles from Nevis to St. Kitts to deal with the demand; adding nine more vehicles to bring the fleet total on St Kitts to 87 vehicles,” Gumbs relayed.

Gumbs also indicated that he would continue to keep the extra vehicles on hand to deal with the upcoming World Cup Cricket One-Day Internationals scheduled for next weekend and also move more vehicles from Nevis to St. Kitts if necessary. ~~Adz:Right~~

Larry Vaughan, Marketing Manager of C&C Auto Services/Economy Car Rentals said that the period leading up to the Music Festival had been very promising and that from launch of ANSAR 2008 activities, business traffic had increased.

“I personally would like to applaud the organisers and marketing team for the Music Festival and One-day Cricket events on a job well done,” he said.

Seymour Williams owner of IAS Car Rentals indicated that business so far has been “wonderful” for the company. Williams said that he has a fleet of 40 vehicles and that the trend he has seen is for residents to book a vehicle for the entire four-day period around Festival.

Among returning nationals and foreign visitors, he said persons were booking vehicles from the start of the Music Festival to the end of the One-Day Cricket matches next weekend.

For persons still looking to secure a means of transport this weekend Williams informed that a few vehicles were still available for rental between today and Saturday.
