BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A College Street Ghaut man escaped unscathed after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a utility pole in the Old Road area.

Head of the Traffic Department Inspector Venette Wyatt told SKNVibes that at about 12:15 on Saturday afternoon while Albert Connor of College Street was travelling in motor jeep PA1815 towards Basseterre, his front wheel blew out in Old Road and he crashed into a lamp post.

SKNVibes understands that Connor suffered no injuries but the vehicle was extensively damaged.

As a result of the incident, the utility pole was felled but SKNVibes is uncertain as to whether or not the electricity and other services were interrupted.

    Investigations are ongoing.
