    POLICE/COURT ROUND UP

    Court Convictions

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Judgment was passed on several persons who recently appeared before the Magistrate’s Courts  in St. Kitts  and were issued fines and sentenced to serve jail time in accordance with their offences.

     

    Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point resident, Estilita Hodge stood before the District “B” Magistrate’s Court on Monday to answer a charge of causing malicious damage. She was ordered to make compensatory payments to Vienna Lake of Sandy Point during the months of July to December and if she fails to do so, she would be sentenced to serve four months at Her Majesty’s Prison.  The total sum to be paid in $5 835.

     

    Kevin Kelley of St. Pauls also appeared before the said court on charges of malicious damage and larceny of goods, belonging to Kenville Connor of St. Pauls Village. He was convicted on both counts and sentenced to serve three months in prison on the first and one year on the second. Both sentences are to run concurrently.

     

    A Tabernacle resident who appeared before the same court was also sentenced to serve time in prison, as he was convicted of a larceny offence.

     

    Rodney Garnette of Tabernacle Village appeared before the court on Tuesday and was convicted of the June 2, 2008 offence and sentenced to serve two months at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    The Tabernacle Police Station is expected to benefit from the sentence that was passed on Michael Finch, alias Darnal, also of Tabernacle Village, who was convicted of a drug-related offence.

     

    Finch was ordered by the court to perform 200 hours of community service during which time he is to clean the premises of the Tabernacle Police Station.

     

    Tesslyn Francis of St. Pauls Village was ordered to apologise to Jamilla Hodge of St. Pauls for making use of insulting language against her. Francis was convicted of the offence and reprimanded.

     

    Everette Davis of St. Pauls Village convicted and cautioned for riding a bicycle without light.
     
    Police Operation

     

    Boston Brown of Grove Park was taken into police custody on Tuesday after he was searched and a quantity of marijuana was found on his person.  A Police press release informs that on the said day, Police on Nevis were executing a search warrant on Brown’s property for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition, which led to him being searched and resulted in the find. The release however does not indicate whether he was charged or not.

     

    Arrests
     
    Two individuals were arrested on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 and are scheduled to appear before the court shortly.

     

    Central and Market Streets resident, Sara Holmes was arrested and charged with driving without insurance and driving without a valid and unexpired driver’s license.

     

    Ottleys Villager, Jermaine Underwood, for a June 21, 2008 offence of larceny, was arrested and charged.
