BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PERSONS looking for more exciting competition this Friday after cricket are invited to head across the street to the 400-seat Old Boy’s School Building to witness the finals of the  ‘Let’s See What You Know-HIV/AIDS Game Show’ between Cayon High School and Washington Archibald High School.

Beginning at 7:45 p.m., the Jeopardy-style game show will feature one male and one female contestant from each school answering questions related to HIV/AIDS topics, such as stigma and discrimination, HIV contraction and prevention, efforts to combat the epidemic, statistics and general information.

The preliminary round for the game show was held on June 27 at the Washington Archibald High School and was hailed as a well-informed battle of wits between Basseterre, Washington Archibald, Cayon and Sandy Point High Schools.

According to the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service, the male CARICOM Youth Ambassador, Ian Richards, was very pleased with the preliminary rounds he helped organise, “congratulated the students for participating and also credited the teachers for preparing the students.”   ~~Adz:Right~~

The release further states that “Director of Youth Geoffrey Hanley was so impressed with the level of enthusiasm generated at the show that he engaged Ambassador Richards about the possibility of having the quiz competition return in 2009 with an expanded format”.

HIV/AIDS continues to be a major epidemic in the Caribbean with 11,000 people in the region who died from AIDS-related diseases last year alone. Youths have proven to be one of the age groups most at risk for the disease.

The organisers of the ‘Let’s See What You Know-HIV/AIDS Game Show’ encourage the general public to go out and show support for youth at the free event, which would be televised live on ZIZ.
