Thieves break into Admiral’s Enterprises; electronics stolen

Window panels which were removed by thieves

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOR the second time in as many weeks, thieves executed their sinister plan at the Admiral’s Enterprises, where they broke into the compound and stole a number of electronics and ransacked the offices before making their exit.

The Admiral’s Enterprises’ upholstery and furniture construction business is housed in the old CSR building/warehouse located at Kittstoddart and, according to information reaching this media house, the incident occurred sometime between 6:00 on Sunday evening after the premises was secured and shortly before 8:00 the following morning.

Senior Managing Director Harrington ‘Junie’ Bristol told SKNVibes that he arrived for work on Monday morning at approximately 7:45 and having accessed the building’s main entrance he discovered that the entrance to the offices was ajar.

“I got here about 7:45 a.m. and when I got through the door here I discovered the office door was open, and having realised that I figured that something was wrong. When I looked on the side of the door, I realised that the side panel was pulled off so I proceeded to examine the office and we saw that the electronics had disappeared.”

He said the list of electronics which had been stolen include a desktop - fitted with hard drive and UPS - a laptop, pen drives and an electronic photo frame. He said the offices were ransacked, desk drawers were removed and their contents strewn across the floor.

The Managing Director explained that from his investigations, the bandits removed a window from the bathroom on the north-eastern side of the building, through which they gained access.

After gathering their loot, the individuals made their exit through a door on the south-western side of the building.

Bristol said after he discovered what had taken place, he made contact with the police – who came and conducted investigations - and then his office manager Sandra Vanterpool.

Only two Sundays before the property was broken into, as explained by Bristol, and a number of small tools valued at approximately $20 000 were stolen. Also pilfered at that time were two completed dressing tables and mirrors which were to have been delivered on the Tuesday following Easter Monday.

The most-recent incident – Bristol indicated to this publication – has brought to the fore, the need for improved security.

“The main problem that we have that we are trying to deal with is getting some semblance of a system to work. All of the information we had would have gone including the thumb drives that we had inside the drawers. We are basically flat on our backs trying to figure out which way is up. So, apart from that, we are taking whatever measures we can to improve the security system. We will be putting in electronic surveillance in a while to help in every way we can.”
