    Six juveniles convicted in Basseterre Magistrate’s Court

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SIX juveniles appeared yesterday [July 7] before the District ‘’A’ Magistrate’s Court and were convicted for the offences of which they were charged.

     

    According to a Police press release, a 13-year-old juvenile from Westbourne Street and two 14-year-olds from Durant Avenue and Fiennes Avenue respectively, appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Monday, July 7, 2008 to answer the charge of battery and were all convicted and placed on a six-month probation.

     

    Additionally, the juveniles are to observe a daily curfew from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., not to have contact with undesirables and to attend school regularly and punctually. They were also ordered to have no contact with the complainant. The offence was committed on October 18, 2007.

     

    Another juvenile, 15 years old, from Conaree Village also appeared before the court to answer a house breaking and larceny charge.

     

    He was found guilty of the January 10, 2008 offence and placed on probation for a 12-month period. The juvenile was also ordered by the court to complete 100 hours of community service and to observe a daily curfew from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

     

    And a 14-year-old from Buckleys Housing along with a 15-year-old from Taylors Village, who were charged with the offence of battery, appeared before the court and were convicted and cautioned.

     

    Arrests
    Sean Brazier of Pitcairn Street, Newtown was on July, 5, 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of house breaking and larceny, while Carlton Williams of Half Way Tree and Jonathan Marsham of Godwin Ghaut were arrested and charged on separate counts of armed with an offensive weapon on July 5, 2008.

     

    Over on Nevis, Dennis Maynard of Brick Kiln was arrested and charged on  July 3, 2008 for “simple wounding”.

     

    Bernard Patrick of Parsons Village was arrested and charged on Sunday, July 6, 2008 with the offences of obstruction, resisting arrest and battery on Police, while on the following day Vernon Nias of Canaree Village was arrested and charged with the offence of driving under the influence.
