Green matters expo seeks to save environment

    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, May 1st, 2012  –  The Conservation and Fisheries Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour in an effort to building a better Virgin Islands through greening the economy will be hosting a one-day “Green Matters” exposition as part of the activities in observance of June’s Environment Month.

    Professional Cadet and Chairperson for the exposition from the Conservation and Fisheries Department, Ms. Pearline George, speaking with the Department of Information and Public Relations said that, “In recognition of this day, the department will be highlighting the theme ‘The Green Economy: Does it include you?’ as we encourage the wise and conscious use of our valuable natural resources that will remain for generations to come.”

     

    “This year’s Environment Month, slated for the entire month of June the department will host several activities to effectively recognize the importance of our eco-system and enhance our sustainable strategies for the Virgin Islands environment,” Ms. George stated.

     

    According to Ms. George the overall goal of the exposition is to sensitize the public on all environmental matters and highlight the role of the Conservation and Fisheries Department in an effort to save our environment showcasing all aspects of the community and activities such as Turtle and Lionfish Demonstrations, Biodiversity, Fishing Methods and Licenses and Climate Change Displays.

     

    The “Green Matters” exposition is scheduled for June 5, 2012 at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
