Acting Governor Mrs. V. Inez Archibald delivering remarks to the honourees expressed apologies and heartfelt congratulations on behalf of His Excellency the Governor Mr. Boyd McCleary, CMG, CVO who is out of the Territory on travel duty. The Acting Governor congratulated the honourees on behalf of the Deputy Governor’s Office and behalf of the public service and thanked them for being outstanding public officers.

The Acting Governor added, “We have excellent people here representing the public service and we are grateful. Ms. Cleone Maduro delivering remarks on behalf of the honourees said, “My fellow honourees and I can attest to the fact that achieving the Employee of the Quarter Award is certainly a magnificent and gratifying experience. As we strive to become a World Class Public Service, we must remain mindful of the importance of demonstrating exceptional service delivery. We strongly believe that by making this essential attribute our daily focus, we can achieve our goal to reach this milestone sooner rather than later.”

Ms. Maduro added that in order to reach the world class milestone public officers will have to put the work in by, “committing to ensuring quality outcomes of assigned tasks; seeking to achieve higher competency in areas of responsibility; demonstrating integrity in every aspect of our public and private life; performing our daily functions with humility; practicing professionalism in the workplace; motivating ourselves and others, which will allow for greater productivity and accountability; and finally, being honest with ourselves and with others, which enables us to gain respect for ourselves, our employer and our country.”

The Employee of the Quarter initiative was launched in 2005 as a means of recognising public officers who exceed expectations and set an example for their fellow public officers. This service-wide ‘ministerial level’ recognition programme is administered by the Department of Human Resources’ Employee Relations Unit.
