Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, May 3rd 2012 - Determined that Seniors should not be neglected and marginalized but rather celebrated and embraced, the Department of Social Services and Community Development has embarked on a mission of providing year round activities for older persons in the community.

As such, on Sunday 29th April, over one hundred older persons and well wishers assembled at the Sandy Point Community Centre to a variety concert under the theme, “Good Health Adds Years To Your Life”.

The concert which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Health and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in commemoration of World Health Day featured several local artistes  who sang, danced and shared other talents with their elders.

Persons in attendance commended the high quality of performances and expressed their gratitude to the Ministry for an afternoon well spent.

With one successful event behind them, the Department of Social Services and Community Development is now preparing for an activity in the third quarter of 2012 which is slated to be a picnic for older persons.
