BASSETERRE St. Kitts, May 3rd 2012 - On Saturday April 28th, the Department of Social Services and Community Development concluded a three week training of Presidents and Vice Presidents of Community-based Organizations.
The training was the first outreach for 2012 that looked at streamlining the process for local recognition of community based nonprofit organizations.
The Department extends Special thanks to the facilitators Dr. Christine Walwyn, Ms. Terrelah Byron, Ms. Cyndie Demming and Mr. Lloyd Lazaar for volunteering their services.
Community-based organizations should note that the Department intends to continue developing the capacity of leaders and members in accordance with the 2008 Non Governmental Organization act which changed the landscape of community based organization in the Federation and charged the Department with the responsibility to reform the process for engagement and recognition with community based organizations.
