CoP Walwyn seeks US assistance in finding missing teen

MISSING: Dylon Clarke
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TODAY (May 3) marks almost one week since Dylon Clarke of Church Ground, Nevis has gone missing without a trace and Commissioner of Police Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn is seeking the US Embassy’s assistance in finding the teenager.

Speaking yesterday (May 2) with members of the media, Commissioner of Police Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn said he had requested assistance from the US Embassy in Barbados in finding the missing teen.

The Commissioner said that he had sought to acquire a dog (bloodhound) form the US Virgin Islands Police to assist in the search, but they did not have any.

“So I wrote to the US Embassy in Barbados and they are trying to find one. The reason why I did that is because people are spreading rumours out there. Some of them have not been supported by anything out there…but it’s out there,” he added.

According to a police release, the 17-year-old was first reported missing on Sunday (Apr. 29) afternoon by family members, who stated that he had left his home sometime after 2:00 p.m. on the previous day “to go for a walk” and has not returned since.

The release stated that “it was noted that it was not a custom for the young man ‘to sleep out’ so an alarm was raised as early as Saturday evening when he did not return home”.

It also stated that unconfirmed reports indicate that he was seen in the vicinity of Moon’s Bar in Church Ground up to about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

He left home wearing a yellow Polo shirt, a short jean pants and Nike black and white sandals.

On the said day that police received report of him gone missing, a party comprising members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the Fire and Rescue Services, as well as personnel from the Nevis Disaster Management Department and a number of other volunteers went in search of him.

Arrangements were also made for members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force to assist in the ongoing search.

The contact number for the search team is 469-5556 and 469-1423 after normal working hours, and anyone who wishes to conduct searches on their own is urged to coordinate with the Command Post established at the Nevis Disaster Management Department.

Anyone knowing of Clarke’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391 or any other police station in the Federation.
