Police to conduct countrywide weekend operations

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONCE again the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the public’s support as members of the Delta Squad and the Special Services Unit (SSU) will be conducting operations during this weekend on both islands of the Federation.

A release from the Police Public Information Officer (PIO), Sergeant Stephen Hector, states that “the RSCNPF will be conducting a series of specialised operations involving the Delta Squad and SSU units during the course of this weekend between both islands.

“We therefore ask for the cooperation and support of you the general public as we take strategic steps to maintain the safety and security of the Federation”.

The PIO noted that the strategic measures which would be employed might interrupt the normal course of residents’ activities in public life.

“As such,” he added, “your usual cooperation would be greatly appreciated.”

Since its formation in the last quarter of 2011, the Delta Squad, one of Commissioner Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn’s initiatives in taking back the streets and making the Federation a safer place to both residents and visitors, has made a number of arrests for various offences on both islands.

This squad, in collaboration with the efficiency demonstrated by the Intelligence Unit, the Criminal Investigation Department, SSU and the Anti-Narcotics Unit, is slowly but surely causing the public to regain its confidence and trust in the police force.

Delta Squad has been regularly patrolling the ‘hotspots’ in St. Kitts; a strategy which has significantly realised the reduction of gun-related and other serious crimes committed in those areas.
