ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, May 14th, 2012 -- This week, Cedar International School student Nicole Munro won The Eye of the Storm Young Readers Competition. The novel’s author Alison Knights Bramble and Editor Traci O’Dea presented Nicole with an Amazon Kindle e-reader as a prize for correctly answering all 19 questions about the novel.
As an avid young reader, Nicole was genuinely excited with the gift with which can store over 3,000 books. She said upon being handed the prize, “It feels great to have won the Kindle!” Nicole’s new Kindle included a copy of the recently released Kindle version of The Eye of the Storm as the first book in her Kindle library.
Alison said, “To know that my book is available all over the world at the click of a button is an excellent feeling. When you are writing a story, your greatest hope is that people will read it. As a Kindle user, I know just what wonders the electronic world can open up, and now The Eye of the Storm is out there, too!”
Editor Traci O’Dea of aLookingGlass Books said, “We’re really excited that we were able to give Nicole the Kindle with The Eye of the Storm on it. I loved seeing Alison’s words, along with the maps and fonts aLookingGlass designed, appear in e-ink on the Kindle.”
The book’s Kindle release coincided with Nicole’s win, and while Special Olympics BVI will continue to benefit from sales of the paperback book in shops throughout the Virgin Islands, the new electronic version will bring the tale of “summer, sailing, sand and skullduggery” to international readers.
The Kindle version of the novel is now for sale on Amazon.com at an introductory price of only $3.99.
