Hundreds flocked iRep Entertainment upscale party

By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IT was indeed an event of the 'high life' as persons dressed in their best outfits flocked the Sugar's Night Club to experience a night of upscale entertainment.

Saturday, last (May 12), iRep Entertainment hosted its first party, dubbed ‘HighLife Coppershot’, which saw close to 1 000 persons going out to enjoy a party with a difference.
The event kicked off at 10:00 p.m. and, unlike the customary time of attendance in St. Kitts, all three sections of the venue were filled to capacity by 11:30 p.m.

The night saw a number of Deejays performing to their best including Dj Yardy, Chronical Sound, Mad Squad Sound, who provided those in attendance with a mixture of groovy tunes while Sweet Sister Sensia, as usual, represented the ladies with a number of female-uplifting dancehall tunes.

One of the highlights for the event was the showcasing of some of the clothing sold at the iRepSKN store which was established just one year ago.

A runway was made and models, including one out of Trinidad, strutted their stuff in iRepSKN shirts, dresses, hoodies, trousers and bathing suits.

Following that display, the spotlight shone on Daggah who is also one of the faces at iRepSKN. He gave the crowd a resounding performance sending them into frenzy as he belted out some of his most popular tunes including ‘Your Turn to Cry’.

The most-anticipated moments of the event were the giveaways which were done every 15 minutes from 11:00 p.m.

iRep Entertainment gave away over EC$15 000 in cash and prizes which included Dufry gift baskets, Shiggidy Shack gift vouchers, National Bank gift cards, jewellery, Kurves House of Beauty spa day, iConic clothing, iRepSKN clothing, a Foot Locker gift certificate, Swarovski gifts, and dinners for two at Carambola, Marshalls and Spice Mill.

The final and most looked forward to performances were those of Jamaica's Sound of the Year, Coppershot, and the Sugar Band - Nu Vybes International.

Coppershot Sound held the fort for the dancehall and Hip-Hop lovers on the inside of the club while Nu Vybes 'set up shop' on the outskirts and gave the 'wilders' something to ‘get on bad’.

The Nu Vybes Band's performance was paused for the announcement of the grand prizes for the night.

A young mother got off to an amazing Mother's Day start when she was announced winner of EC$2 500 cash, while a young man won himself a brand new Blackberry handset.

In an exclusive interview, Jay Weekes, founder of iRepSKN and iRep Entertainment, told this media house that the party was in fact the official launch of iRep Entertainment and it was done in an effort to give back to St. Kitts and Nevis.

“The whole motivation came from us wanting to give back and looking at the party scene in St. Kitts. We wanted to take it to another level, we wanted to make it upscale and that is why we called it HighLife. This is also the official launch of iRep Entertainment.

“The prizes are also one of the ways in which we are giving back. We decided to do something special and that is where the idea of the prizes came from. We had 62 prizes given away tonight.”

Weekes explained that he wanted the party to be one with a difference. One with a music festival style, hence the presence of Coppershot Sound.

The store and music label founder also explained that he was very pleased with the turnout and that it was just the first of many high-end parties to come.

“This is just the first one. iRep Entertainment is hoping to have one every month at least. Not just any old party but one that is high-end…one that is upscale. When iRep Entertainment throws a party it would not be just a regular party, it would be one with a difference.

“The same way we changed the clothing, we want to change everything too, including the parties,” he said.

Weekes said that in the near future, St. Kitts could expect a lot more from iRepSKN and iRep Entertainment.
