BASSETERRE St. Kitts, May 14th, 2012 -- In our continuing effort to serve our community, the Newtown Sports Club is proud to inform the general public that on Tuesday 8th May 2012, the Tucker Clarke Primary School officially opened its refurbished Computer Lab. This was made possible through the generosity of Mr James Cabourne, Ocean’s Edge St Kitts and many other caring businesses and individuals on St Kitts. The story is one of true generosity.
The Newtown Sports Club approached Mr Cabourne requesting assistance for the School and without hesitation we met with the Principal, Mr Sylvester Clarke. On touring the school Mr Cabourne realized that the existing Computer Lab contained equipment that was not only antiquated, but mainly non-functioning.
Within a few hours, Mr Cabourne contacted Mr Peter Chevozerov of Peter.KN at Port Zante and ordered 27 state of the art computers with accessories and 27 chairs to be delivered to the Tucker Clarke Primary School Computer Lab. Mr Chevozerov agreed to set up the computers free of charge and to provide other guidance in their use.
The Newtown Sports Club then undertook to repair the air conditioning system, paint the interior, install new curtains, and provide new security for the Lab. Our SKNFA Premier Divison football players painted the Computer Lab with discounted paint provided by Builder’s Paradise. Mr Philmore Warner of Lennox Warner & Partners supervised the players.
An internal air conditioning unit was serviced and repaired by Messrs Larry and Dion Maynard of Maynard’s Air Conditioning. An external unit was purchased at a discounted price from Federal Air Conditioning, Port Zante. The curtains were made and donated by Sun Island Clothing. The security system was purchased by Ocean’s Edge St Kitts and installed free of charge by Caribbean Security Systems, who will also monitor the system thanks to the generosity of Mr Paul Ferguson.
The Newtown Sports Club is eternally thankful for the philanthropy of all persons and businesses who assisted in this venture, especially Mr James Cabourne and Ocean’s Edge St Kitts. This monumental event would never have been possible without those mentioned above…and now the Tucker Clarke Primary School has a state of the art refurbished Computer Lab.
