BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 16th, 2012 (CUOPM) – The general public especially mothers and fathers are been urged to stay tuned to the electronic and print media for upcoming activities to commemorate National Month of the Family.
The Ministry of Social Services and Community Development said its department has been commemorating International Day of Families on May 15th for the past three to five years.
“Our celebrations this year will bring attention to the strengthening of family bonds. Therefore we are launching a National Month of Family which will include various activities across all our communities,” said the Ministry in a release.
It said while the International theme for the Day of Families (May 15th) is “Ensuring Work-Family Balance,” the local adaptation of this theme for the celebrations is “Family Time is Precious Time – Ensuring Work-Family Balance.”
During the course of the month, the Department of Social Services and Community Development in conjunction with private sector and civil society partners will host activities designed to share some examples of family activities and advocate some critical messages about children and fathers.
