BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) is preparing to host the first ever Miss Sports Personality that will take place next month on Saturday, June 23 at Carnival Village.

Dominic Stevens, a member of the pageant’s planning committee and an Executive Member of the SKNFA said that the pageant is one of the ideas that derived from fund raising initiatives they were considering.

“We wanted to do something different and exciting in the football world and so this is how the pageant came about,” he said.

He said that seven teams were selected to enter a contestant on their behalf and the criteria they used was selecting last year’s final four teams; S.L. Horsfords St. Pauls, Conaree, Delphic Newtown United and Village Superstars.

They also chose the top two teams from the first division; Cayon and SPD United and also included C.C.C. Bart Village.

Stevens also said that the contestants will range from the ages of 18-25 and does not necessarily have to be a football player but can be someone who is a supporter of the team or community.

The public will get a chance to see who the contestants as their identities will be revealed this weekend.

They will be competing in Promotional Speech where they will present themselves in their team’s jersey, Creative Wear - where they will create an outfit from the jersey, a Talent segment, Evening wear and onstage Interview.

The selection of prizes has not been finalized as yet but Stevens said the winner will beco89me an ambassador for the SKNFA and will be representing St. Kitts and Nevis in major events locally and abroad.

“The pageant is getting really good feedback and a lot of buzz, and hype, we’re very excited about it. We’re hoping that the show will be one of standard, and can be done on an annual basis. We’ll be having several promotional events leading up to the show, including a swimwear appearance,” he said.
