Public invited to join pubic officers for PSW activities

    ROADTOWN Tortola,  May 18th, 2012  –  The public is invited to join public officers in observing Public Service Week 2012 from May 20-31 under the theme, “A Public Service for Efficiency Excellence and Innovation.”

    The official opening of the week will be held on Sunday, May 20 with a church service and opening ceremony at the New Testament Church of God International Worship Centre at 3:00pm. The inaugural performance of the public service mass choir will take place at the service.

     

    Additionally, on Monday, May 21 a pep-rally will be held from the grounds of the Central Administration Building to the A. O. Shirley Recreation Ground followed by the cheerleading and track and field competition.

     

    The week, which is held annually, will also see government ministries, departments and statutory bodies competing in various sporting activities such as softball, basketball, bowling, scrabble, dominoes and open house.

     

    In addition to the sporting activities, on Wednesday, May 23 the Health Fair will be held on the grounds of the Central Administration Building from 10:00am to 3:00pm and the annual recognition ceremony, which recognises officers for years of service, will be held at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium at 6:00pm.

     

    The public is encouraged to come out and support the public officers as they compete in the various events.

     

    Public Service Week is held annually to highlight the contribution of the public service to the Territory’s development and give members of the public an opportunity to gain a better appreciation and understanding of the work of the Public Service.
