    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (February, 25, 2005): Continuing the familiarization visits to industrial facilities on St. Kitts, the minister responsible for trade and industry, Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, toured the Carib Brewery, which is completing a EC$19 million state-of-the-art upgrade for its production lines.
     
    On his visit, Minister Harris held discussion with Carib Brewerys Managing Director Mr. Mark Wilkin and Plant Manager Mr. Linkon Maynard. The minister was informed that the EC$9 million second phase was nearing completion and would assist the company in taking advantage of export opportunities in the Eastern Caribbean.
     
    Minister Harris said Government would continue to encourage manufacturing facilities to make full use of emerging opportunities. He said that support is aimed at assisting companies to thrive in the domestic and regional markets.
      
    The Minister also commented on the availability of support in the form of the CARICOM Trade Support Initiative facilitated through the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to the amount of TT$100 million. The fund assists non-Trinidad and Tobago CARICOM manufacturers improve their ability to market and compete effectively in the regional market.
