BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUNIOR calypsonian King Leo returned to a position with which he is familiar by winning the top honour at the Green Valley Junior Kaiso Competition held last evening (May 26).

Legally known as Leonardo Robinson, King Leo sang his way to a 62-point margin between him and his closest competitor, to amass a total of 359 points, effectively winning the title of the Green Valley 2012 Junior Kaiso King.

The competition was amongst King Leo and five others: Mighty Survivor, Kind Midget, Mighty Copper, King Scribbles and Mighty Kallie.

All appeared in one round which was their only opportunity to put their best foot forward and deliver according to the criteria.

King Leo’s song ‘Principle is Principle’ – which was penned by his father Fitzroy ‘De Provoker’ Robinson, - spoke of a social ill where young individuals neglect or refuse to exercise common courtesy.

The Second Runner Up position was won by King Scribbles amassing a total of 285 with his rendition “We Got to Change”.

And with a total of 297 points, the Mighty Survivor who performed “I’m Staying Focussed” won the First Runner Up position.

A $100-award was given to the Mighty Midget for being the Most Co-operative Caylpsonian in the junior category.

King Leo told this media house that he last won the crown in 2010 after which King Scribbles and King Midget won in 2011 and 2012 respectively. He said he is happy to have won and now has his eyes set on the National Carnival Junior Calypso crown and would be defending his Green Valley crown in 2013.

His father and his mother (Venetta) said they are proud of their son’s accomplishments and expressed that they were always confident of his ability to win this year’s competition.
