BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOUR individuals were rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital last evening (May 27) following a two-vehicle crash that took place along the Kim Collins Highway.

News of the incident quickly circulated that the accident was possibly “serious” and that assistance was needed to remove one or more individuals from the wreckage.

SGT Calvin Amory of the Traffic Department told SKNVibes that the 6:30 p.m. accident involved motorcar PA4668 driven by Sunil Liddie of Lime Kiln and motor jeep P9397 driven by VarumAtre of Frigate Bay.

Describing the circumstances as he was informed, the SGT indicated that P9397 was travelling from the airport end of the road towards the direction of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank with PA4668 travelling in the opposite direction.

He said “both vehicles collided and ended up on the grass on the eastern side of the road”.

In addition to the driver, two passengers were aboard P9397 while Liddie was the lone occupant of PA4668.

This publication understands that a unit from the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services was summoned to the scene to assist in extricating Liddie from PA4668. The Emergency Medical Services was also reportedly summoned to the scene to transport the injured individuals to the hospital.

SGT Amory said the occupants of P9397 received treatment for lacerations to their faces and hands and were discharged from the hospital.

Liddie – who reportedly complained of chest pains – was treated and admitted.

Extensive was the damage to both vehicles and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Traffic Department is making investigations into the incident.
