CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (JULY 17, 2008) -- Area Representative for the Parish of St. Pauls Hon. Robelto Hector, encouraged primary school students to prepare themselves for the role of future leaders.

This came at the opening ceremony of the second part of the Nevis Public Library’s Annual Environmental Awareness Programme, held on July 14, 2008, at the Charlestown Secondary School’s Auditorium.

The Minister, who officially declared the programme opened, made his remarks to the participants in a very interactive manner.  He reminded them of the job opportunities that would be available to them and underscored the importance of being positive citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“You are the future; the future policemen.  You are the future politicians.  You

“The future is in your hands.  You are simply building on what the adults around you have laid as a foundation for this country.  If you are to move forward and if you are to take your role seriously, you ought to begin now,” Mr. Hector said.

The Minister also addressed the need for the participants to be disciplined, determined and respectful.

“When you are embarking upon a profession, as young as you are, you must have discipline.  You must be determined.  You must be respectful.  I want to say to you kids as future leaders, you are to begin now to shoulder yourself for that responsibility,” Minister Hector said.

The participants, aged nine to 12 years, will engage in activities on the topics “The road to Independence,” “Our Independence: national symbols and nation builders,” “Our accomplishments since Independence” and “Charting the way forward.” ~~Adz:Left~~
