Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 01), 2005): Music lovers on the East Coast of the United States will hear about plans for the 2005 St. Kitts Music Festival, over the next week.

Executive Director Allister Williams leaves the Federation tomorrow for a seven-day stay in New York and Washington D.C. where he will engage in an extensive promotional campaign to build a larger following of supporters for the Music Festival.

To achieve this, Williams will be featured on radio and television programmes on a number of stations including WLIB and Carib News in New York. The Music Festival will also have a presence at the New York Times Travel Show, which takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre on March 4.

The weekend schedule has the executive director traveling to the U.S. Capital for additional media engagements. Among the stations to be visited are Radio WPGC and Howard University Television.

Williams added that the trip coordinated in collaboration with the St. Kitts Tourism Authority will also provide the opportunity to meet with record industry officials and finalize the participation of a number of acts targeted to appear in St. Kitts for the June festival.

Plans to aggressively promote the four-nightly event in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) will be a focus.

Later this week, Mr. Williams will announce the first of some of the top international performers who will be appearing at the June 23-26 St. Kitts Music Festival.
