BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS Miss World St. Kitts-Nevis, Markysa O’Loughlin prepares to grace the world stage at the 62nd Annual Miss World Pageant on August 18, she is organizing a number of activities and will also launch her platform soon.

The Miss World Pageant is held under the theme ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ and O’Loughlin said that delegates actually engage in charitable activities pertaining to children and teens in their home country.

In an exclusive interview with SKNVibes.com she said that the Federation is making a bold move towards energy efficiency and she will be using that as her platform for the pageant.

“This is something that I'm particularly interested in,” she said. “St. Kitts and Nevis is one of the most "green" Caribbean countries and we can benefit greatly from our eco-tourism product for years to come,” she said.

She said this segment carries the most points and her platform or energy efficiency project will involve the Federation's youth.

The participation of anyone in a pageant of this magnitude is of high cost, and as such O’Loughlin will be embarking on a number of activities including raffles and bake sales in addition to a major event in July.

However, one of her major activities, her launch party ‘Legacy’ will be held this weekend (June 2) at Cloud 9.

In a release, O’Loughlin said that “The name ‘Legacy’ is symbolic of my journey to the world stage where I am hoping to live up to the legacy of many great Kittitians and Nevisians who have made their mark on the world before me.”

The event ‘Legacy’ has a packed line up of several talented local artistes, bands and DJs; Nu Vybes Band Int'l, Royaltiez Band ft. the Legendary Mic Stokes, Rolhensha and Mimi.

The night will also include local superstar Infamus, St. Kitts Music Festival artistes Ali Dee and Nicha B, the only female DJ in St. Kitts Sweet Sister Sensia, DJ Flames, DJ Yardy and Firehouse Sounds.

There will also be a presentation by O’Loughlin, appearances by the St. Kitts Music Festival girls and giveaways including a blackberry handset from LIME.

The event being held this Saturday night (June 2) begins at 9:00 p.m.
