BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ON his own behalf and on behalf of the organisation he leads, President of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Anthony Johnson has publicly extended sympathies to the family of the late Masud Sadiki.

An entertainer, father, husband, social activist, TV host and positivist, Masud – born Kevin Donovan and popularly known as Stitch In Time – was discovered on the afternoon of May 21 hanging from a tree in the mountain area of Old Road.

And news of his unfortunate demise threw the Federation in a state of shock, giving rise to countless questions and prompting many to offer condolences to Masud’s friends and family members.

On Wednesday (May 30) at an SKNFA press conference, the organisation’s President recalled Masud as one of his friends and a man who was ever helpful and one who exuded positivity.

“Masud was a friend of mine, someone I got to know over the past few years and someone whose energy, whose dedication, whose passion were unsurpassed. Masud assisted the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association in a number of activities over the last few years. In fact, a few years ago, when the U20 team was preparing for a tournament he was one of the motivational speakers that assisted us in preparing the team.

“As recent as last year, 2011, when the U23 team was preparing for its Olympic Qualifiers, he was very instrumental in the promotions that we undertook leading up to those games. But outside of that he was someone who genuinely helped…almost every individual that required his help, even if perhaps it was not requested, because he has a genuine loving spirit.”

In expressing condolences to the family and friends of Masud, President Johnson counted it as appropriate for the upcoming Final Four Competition to be dedicated to Masud’s memory.

“I want on the outset, on behalf of the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association, pay our deepest respects to the late Kevin Donovan. And I believe at this time that it is important that we remember the difficulty that the family – particularly his wife and children – that they must be experiencing.

“On behalf of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association, I want to express deepest condolences to the family of Masud and I want to ask the teams participating in the Final Four Competition this year to dedicate it to the memory of Masud and to play with the same enthusiasm and spirit he displayed throughout his lifetime.”
