No running water at JNF Hospital

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ST. KITTS’ premier medical institution, the Joseph N France General Hospital, is currently without water running through its taps and efforts are being made to rectify the situation.

Information reaching SKNVibes this morning states that no portable water is available at the hospital through its taps and, this problem, if not rectified soonest, could have serious repercussions at the medical institution.

The information, however, did not reveal from what time the problem started.

In an effort to confirm the report, this media house contacted the St. Kitts Water Services Department and was told that the problem exists but it was no fault of that entity.

A member of the administrative body of the Water Services Department said his company’s supply of water to the hospital was not disconnected and the situation may have risen from an internal maintenance problem.   ~~Adz:Right~~

Further investigations led SKNVibes into contacting the hospital’s Operations Manager, Launette Adams, who clearly stated that she was not commissioned to speak to the media and the Director was the individual authorised to do so.

All efforts to contact the Director were futile. However, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Elvis Newton availed himself and declared that the problem has “nothing to do with the hospital”.

Newton said he was aware of the problem and had begun investigations into the matter to have it resolved in the shortest possible time. At press time, however, the situation remained the same.
