Two injured in Pond Road traffic accident

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A woman and a man were taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital yesterday afternoon after the vehicle in which they were travelling ran into a sidewalk and a building at Pond Road.

This media house spoke with a young lady who witnessed the incident and she explained that it began as far back as the Basseterre Fire Station and ended on the said road, but in the vicinity of the top of Carty Alley.

The young lady said she was in the vicinity of the top of Carty Alley when she observed the vehicle, P 1564, as it travelled westward along Pond Road.

“The incident started from back by the fire station. The car was coming across the road and I saw is swerving from side to side…then I saw some things falling from the bottom of the car.
 
The car was still swerving from side to side. When it got down the road, it collided with and went up on the side walk (on the mountain side of the road), came back down and slammed into the building (on the corner of Pond Road and Carty Alley).”

The young lady further explained that a man was driving the vehicle and a woman was in the front passenger seat. While it was relatively easy for the woman to disembark the wreck, persons in the area had to assist the man in getting out of it. 

SKNVibes understands that when the vehicle collided with the sidewalk, the impact caused the driver’s door to be jammed.

Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
