                                             Government Invites Tenders for the Collection of Solid Waste

    ~~Adz:Left~~ TORTOLA, B.V.I- Government is now receiving tenders for the collection of solid waste in the eastern, western, central Road Town, and northern sections of Tortola as well as North Sound and the Valley, Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke.

     

    Tenderers must provide proof that they possess the necessary equipment for the job, by submitting a copy of either their vehicle registration or insurance policy. They should also supply proof of their ability to finance the acquisition of equipment required to complete the job.

     

    Other requirements include possession of a valid trade licence, details of each tenderer’s work experience in the area, a full breakdown of the cost to carry out the service, and certificates of good standing in respect of social security and income tax.

     

    A non-refundable fee of $50.00 payable by cash or bank cashier’s cheque, payable to the Accountant General, is required for the Tender Documents, which are available upon request from The Chairman, Public Tenders Committee, Ministry of Finance, Procurement Unit, Third Floor, RFG Place. Tender Documents can be collected with effect from Monday, 28 July until Friday, 8 August.

     

    Tenders should be submitted in triplicate, with the original separated from the copies.

     

    Tenders will not be accepted after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 19 August, 2008. Tenders will be publicly opened at the Ministry of Finance, Procurement Unit, at 12:00 p.m. on that same day, when all tenderers will be invited to attend. 

     

    Solid waste falls under the portfolio of the Ministry of Health and Social Development and is managed by the Solid Waste Department, the agency primarily responsible for the collection and disposal of community solid waste throughout the Territory.
