                                                    Wellness Fair on Anegada Well-Received

    ANEGADA, B.V.I- Dozens of people on Anegada turned out to learn about healthy living at a wellness fair organised by the Department of Human Resources on Tuesday.

     

    Fair coordinator Mrs. Clearlie Brown said that there was a steady flow of people, many of whom were public servants, attending the event.

     

    “At the end of the day, I felt encouraged that the people of our communities are truly interested in learning how to live a healthier and productive lifestyle,” Mrs. Brown said. “It is crucial to continue to get these types of wellness awareness programmes to them, and to ensure that all of the sister islands are also given equal access.”

     

    The event was one in a series of wellness fairs organised by the Department of Human Resources as part of its Employee Relations Unit.

    public servants, in order to minimise illness, stress, and other factors that can have a negative impact on employees.

     

    A number of government departments and agencies took part in the fair, which took place at the Emile Dunlop Community Centre.
     
    They included the BVI Social Security Board, the Dental Services Unit, Nutrition Unit, Agriculture Department, and Solid Waste Department, which brought along its mascot, Bruce the Mongoose. 

    The Department of Human Resources also shared information about its Employee Assistance Programme, HIV & AIDS education, employee benefits, and health and safety in the workplace. The Sister Islands Programme Coordinator, Mr. Vincent Wheatley, also played a significant role by assisting with the coordination of this initiative.

     

    Anegada District Officer Mrs. Lucia Francis said that the entire Anegada community was grateful for the departments that took part, and thanked them for the services rendered.   ~~Adz:Left~~

     

    The Wellness Fair is part of the Department of Human Resources’ wellness programme for public servants. The programme also includes discounted membership to local gyms, educational activities, nutritional and other types of counselling.
