BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- THE now all-too-familiar sound of gunshots pierced the quiet of an otherwise uneventful Wednesday night at Trafalgar Village when a male was shot at the Western Hero Bar.

The man, according to bystanders, was sitting in the corner bar located on Wilkin Street when at 9:40 p.m. he was shot in the hand by a gunman who discharged three shots.

Sources indicate that the owner of the establishment was in the bar at the time and ‘scattered’ in fear.

The injured man, who is said to be a resident of Challengers Village, was rushed to the J.N.F Hospital by a concerned individual.

Persons present at the J.N.F. Hospital told SKNVibes.com that upon arrival there, the shooting victim exited the vehicle and walked into the Emergency Entrance holding up his bloodied hand saying “I was shot!”

Following the shooting speculation was rampant that the motive may have been robbery as onlookers said they saw two males - at least one brandishing a gun -running westerly along the road heading toward the Lime Kiln area. It was not said if the men were wearing masks.

Police officers as well as members of the SSU and Defense Force arrived approximately 12 minutes after the shooting and immediately began working the crime scene; taking samples from the spilled blood on the bar floor and scouring the area for the perpetrators.
